We took new portraits of both Babs' puppies this weekend. Our puppy, Gunnie (f/k/a lime green), plus Logan (lt.blue collar boy). We have temporarily named lt.Blue "Logan" but his new owners can re-name him. It gets too difficult to call a dog by his collar color! You can see photos of both at this location . Poor Logan caught his ear on something in the yard and needed 10 stitches. What a trooper though!

We took some new photos of the one puppy we have available from this litter, the light-blue collared boy. Click here to see them on Flickr!

It was a busy weekend here and we didn't get a chance for new photos, but we should have some this week. We are starting to have grass again (yay!) instead of dirt. The puppies have been introduced to many of the adult dogs and are now making regular trips into the pasture for exercise. They are also sleeping in their crates most of the night. I get up at 2:45 a.m. just in case someone can't hold it. They all run out the door, pee, and then run back in like a school of fish! We only have one puppy remaining to place, it is the light-blue collared boy.

There are few new photos up on the Flickr site but they are stack photos! The puppies got to go out into the back pasture for the first time this last weekend but it was at dusk so there was not enough light to get any good shots. The grass was taller than them but they thought it was a lot of fun ! We still have two lovely boy pups available. We have started house-training and crate-training them and they are up-to-date on their puppy vaccinations.

We finally have some new photos of the puppies up. The weather has been steadily improving which makes everyone much happier! The puppies go out several times a day to play and even went out to play in the snow on a sunny afternoon. The male two puppies we have available are light-blue collared boy and purple collared boy (as you'll see in the photos). Here are a few photos below, the rest of the set can be seen here flickr.com/foxfireweims.

I just returned from a dog show in Garden City, Kansas this past weekend. What a successful three days! Unfortunately my absence means no photos from this past weekend of the puppies. I will try getting out with them later in the week for some new pictures and some new portraits for this weekend. Their ears are ENORMOUS right now. We still have two males who are looking for loving pet homes. Please read our information section if you might be interested.

It was finally warm enough today to take the puppies outside. Everyone did great and took off into the yard like they had been running around out there for weeks. Here are the new photos: Click here...

We have some new photos for this week! We were at the Denver shows over President's Day weekend and did not really get a chance to get the photos we had up on the web page. The puppies are all doing well though we are feeling the frustration of the cold weather. We divided the puppies into two different pens and let them run amok in the house to get exercise. It is not usually 9° in February here. I am waiting for a 45 degree day with no wind... c'mon mother nature!!! Click here...

LaRita took photos of half of the puppies yesterday. The new ones are posted up on Flickr! Click here...

The puppies are four weeks old now and are adorable little doggies. Unfortunately my camera turned all of the cute portraits I took into pixel mush. I will not have time until Tuesday to do a re-shoot! Here is a cute one of the bunch at meal time. They get three meals a day of softened dog food.

Today the puppies are three weeks old. They are mobile little doggies. We are feeding them three times a day to help Babs out. Their little teeth will be poking through shortly. Here are a few photos, the rest can bee seen on our Flickr page, just click here.

We took a few more photos of the lively crew this weekend. We expanding their living accomodations this weekend. We also introduced them to a non-Babs meal. It was well recieved.

The babies are two weeks old today. Many of them have their eyes open and are walking! They are big, strong puppies. We will start them on rice cereal this week. We took these photos when we put them out on the floor while cleaning the whelping box. They move around like a bowl of worms and the plop in a pile and fall asleep.
Happy one week birthday to the puppies! They are growing like bad weeds. Babs is an excellent mother though she is a little chapped from her pups' enthusiasum at the milk bar. They have been a noisy bunch of puppies but last night they finally slept for most of the night without a major outburst of squealing.

It has been four days now and the puppies are all growing normally. They are a happy clan and Babs has quickly settled into a routine.

The babies have arrived! There are 6 boys and 2 girls, born between 8:15 and 11:15 a.m. today. The smallest is 9.6 oz. and the largest is 12.7 oz. Babs was a very calm and deliberate first-time Mom, no drama.

Babs is huge and uncomfortable. We started taking her temperature twice a day. It is at 99.5 degrees. It could hold steady there for a few days. She could have the puppies any time after Wednesday.

Babs is is about 6 days away from having her puppies. We can feel them kicking around her belly when she is relaxed! I am still not willing to guess how many she'll have. She is properly miserable but it hasn't slowed her down much.

I didn't get a photo in the whelping box, but my Mom got this photo last night when the two girls were lounging. You can see Babs' belly has become sizable. Heidi is about ten days behind her in pregnancy. As I said to a visitor, "Babs has MORE than two, and well, Heidi probably has more than two too." For more about Heidi's litter, click here. Babs is uncomfortable and starting to waddle. We are on the home stretch though, only 13 more days until her due date.

Babs is growing pretty rapidly at this point. She has had some pretty emotional moments over the last week. She's not normally a clingy dog. The other girls are showing her the ropes. Hazel, Heidi and Elsa have all been laying in the whelping box with Babs. They take naps there in the afternoon and evening. I have a photo of a few of them I will be posting shortly.

I'm back from Las Vegas and Babs definitely looks pregnant! (see left).
Monday, December 7, 2009
I am at the National Finals Rodeo until Saturday but LaRita, back at the home front, said that Babs looks like she is pregnant. I would be taking her in for a sonogram if I were home. Hopefully she is pregnant and not just chunky looking !

Today I took Babs up to Dr.Burns to be inseminated. I had to skip the second day of the Southern Colorado Kennel Club dog show in Pueblo to get it done. We were going to board her up there but her progesterone spiked so quickly that we just decided to take her up there on the day of the procedure. Everything went textbook - now we wait! I will be gone to WNFR the day she turns 30 days which is when we would normally get a sonogram. Hopefully she will obviously pregnant by the time I get back.
